BUILDING YOUR SKILLS
IMPACTS GENERATIONS
When you expand your skill set, the ripples of that decision grows beyond these walls and can be the beginning of a whole new trajectory for a single student. Building your skills can be a positive, lasting change for an entire family's future. A foundation of knowledge can be used to build upon, can be a new way of doing things, create a new perspective, and open doors to better opportunity.
Building skills begins with YOU!
You Can Build YOUR Skills,
Because We Built Ours First.

In 2004, recognizing a significant need, Angelia O'Neal founded M.E.N.S. Wear, Inc. (Making Employment the Next Step) to provide professional clothing for men preparing for interviews and soft skills workforce readiness training. By 2008, the organization secured its first workforce training contract with Fulton County, and in 2010, it launched "Toys from Daddy" as part of a family reunification initiative with the City of Atlanta.

From 2012 to 2019, M.E.N.S. Wear, Inc. gained visibility through various media outlets including: WSB TV2 People2People, PeachtreeTV Public Affairs on Peach, UrbanLUX Magazine and others, by raising community awareness and allowing short-term operations to be established in Fulton County's Southwest Atlanta area in 2015. During this time, it became clear that male youth and young adults in underserved communities also required educational opportunities to improve their economic prospects.

In spring 2021, amidst the COVID pandemic, we partnered with supporters and sponsors including Google, Microsoft, Spectrum, Accenture, and Haggar. Through deep collaboration with local, regional, and national organizations, we strategically offered training courses designed to launch individuals into the workforce as skilled employees or entrepreneurs.

In 2024, we launched the MWI Workforce Institute, introducing a 21st-century workforce approach—a dynamic, “Whole-Person Care” strategy aimed at preparing individuals for success in a rapidly changing economy. Our program goes beyond job training; it integrates technical skills, soft skills, career pathways, and comprehensive support to address the demands of today’s labor market and future opportunities.

By 2025, we became a Registered Apprenticeship Program Sponsor, approved by the U.S. Department of Labor, for providing pathways into skilled trades careers and beyond.

We look forward to teaching you skills that build beyond the classroom and into life, as you forge a new and better future!
